How did load/capacity planning work at Vaucher before Oplit? What were the pain points?
In terms of supply, managing and monitoring capacity load is essential. Before Oplit, we worked on an Excel file that required a significant time investment to keep it updated (an hour or more).
Indeed, updates were made at the beginning of the week; they were time-consuming, complex, and managed by a single person. The fact that this exercise was done manually involved a significant risk of error. We have found ourselves more than once convinced that we were meeting our daily or weekly objectives regarding the number of hours on a particular group of machines when that was not the case.

Secondly, we were greatly pleased by the ergonomic and fun aspect of the solution. We could now execute and visualize load and capacity simulations that are really accurate.
The feature we use a lot is the demonstrated capacity over x weeks, which allows us to highlight the major bottlenecks. This solution has proven to be really more comprehensive than other software.

About the team
Today we are conducting a capacity load simulation with the Oplit tool every week, and the evolution of this simulation is shared daily with the entire team, and being able to share the overall load of a factory is honestly no small feat.
The team is therefore calmer and can focus on tasks that really add value. Monitoring undercapacity/overload of the workshops is an important added value of Oplit.
On your operation
Concerning capacity charge meetings, we have a meeting once a week; this has not changed much, the operation remains the same but the use is more enjoyable.
On my side, I use the solution 2/3 times a week like 5 other colleagues - and it saves me between 2 hours and 5 hours a week. The production manager, on the other hand, uses the solution daily.
On strategic decisions
We use the solution during the budget period to simulate capacity, both for manpower and machines. This allows us to properly size our teams and obviously to confirm whether we need new equipment.
What is the next step for Vaucher in terms of Industry 4.0?
Scheduling - the main objective of this module is to lighten the days of the schedulers by replacing the current tool with a tool that automatically performs updates, allowing for a higher update frequency.
The second objective is to increase visibility on the workstations for people who are not in the workshop.
I hope that we will continue to collaborate together for a long time to simplify our lives.
