Production Supervisor at Lisi Aerospace

How did load/capacity planning work at Lisi Aerospace before Oplit? What were the pain points?
Why did you decide to work with Oplit?
During the preparation
Before Oplit, the capacity load analysis was done via a particularly heavy Excel file. Updating the data with extractions and macros required a considerable amount of work time from the logistics teams. We had to act at the last minute to have the most up-to-date data possible, which generated a lot of rush and stress.
The tool was not collaborative at all because everyone had to wait their turn to work on it. The projection capacity was quite limited because we could only perform simulations over a one-month horizon.
During planning meetings
In capacity load balancing meetings, we often only presented initial estimates. The lack of flexibility of the tool prevented many strategic discussions, and we left the meeting with just as many topics to revisit as decisions made.
Initially, there was a reassessment of our capacity analysis process, and Oplit arrived at a time when we were starting to reconsider our way of doing things. We were genuinely looking to make our process more reliable. Our lead time was 3 months, and we were only really projecting on one.
The Oplit solution was therefore obvious on several points:
What Oplit offers is, first and foremost, a better projection over time with the ability to see in real-time the impact of a modification on our organization. We have simple and tailored functionalities for planning. The team's schedule for calculating our capacity is just fantastic. The automatic tracking of production objectives is also just magical; it allows me to immediately target where things are going wrong.
The ease of use is also a key point; even a newcomer can easily take over since we have control over everything and all databases are connected to Oplit. Oplit is also about friendliness, a collaborative tool where various information and modifications are easily reported and accessible to everyone.
To summarize, my advantage of working with Oplit is that I have an ergonomic, efficient, and optimized industrial solution for planning, with people behind it who are accessible. It's a bit like working with colleagues on an industrial solution.

About users
Using Oplit means less pressure, less stress, and less disorganization in daily work.
We no longer need to update the data, a time-consuming and stressful task. It used to take us 3/4 of a day between two people just to make the file usable. In my daily routine, I've gained a stress-free day, and so have my colleagues. This represents about three days per month for both my colleagues and myself.
Moreover, the tool is very accessible, and the training time for a new person is significantly reduced. Previously, it took us 3 or 4 days of training just to understand the file. A new colleague can take charge of the Oplit solution from day one, whereas it used to take at least two weeks. We no longer have that dependency on certain individuals for updating production and logistics tracking.
Today we are making hypotheses whereas before we were updating data and making observations. This has a real impact on the exchanges during production meetings, they are more relevant during planning meetings. Our meetings are now more dynamic. We are faster, more efficient, and we exchange based on a common language.
More generally, I think that Oplit allows us to have better standardization of best practices among the different industrial sites of Lisi.
